Arnaud Giese
Only true for game 9-12, and if the paddle is in the bottom part of the screen
Tempest
I saw something similar in Skydiver where the bottom part of one of the plane wings (the green one?) was glitched like that.
Arnaud Giese
Interesting. Does anyone have an explanation?

Kiwi
That's probably when the 0 get loaded into GRP1. The kernel would have to do comparisons when to load the value into the GRP0 GRP1 ENAM0 ENAM1 ENABL. There's not enough time to check all 5 comparisons on 1 scan line. It looks to me it is double line kernel. So the value 0 was loaded where the glitch is.
+SpiceWare
It's called shearing, it can occur when a TIA register is updated during the visible part of the scanline. I cover it in Step 4 of my Collect Tutorial. Another good example of it is the right side of the background gradient of Air-Sea-Battle.
