Tool to create Music

Recommended Posts

I use madStudio to code in fastBasic.

It is a wonderful tool to create Players.

I am looking for an equivalent tool to help creating music.

Today I have to transform manually some partitions... Not so easy !

I will be so happy if anyone can shae such a tool !

There are many more tools to look at. But this one is straight forward as it has the note lines like on a sheet of paper.

@Bunsen for example used it to create the theme from GoT for my intro "WinTin".

Another good one is Pegasus Sound Monitor, which is available in the ABBUC PD library. Rik of Kaisersoft used it to create the sound for another one of my little intros. And he uses it on real hardware only, not on Emulators. ;)

When it comes to PC Tools, I only know raster music tracker http://raster.infos.cz/atari/rmt/rmt.htm

I try to point @Bunsen to this conversation again, as he uses it a lot and might have the answer right at hand. Meanwhile I´ll check the German manual and try to find the solution for your question.

Edit: Here are some Letters you can type in the note lines. Some of them need values or parameters, which have to be entered directly after the Letter (no space) :

"P" - POKE (like in BASIC, for example to change color)

Important POKE for THE SOUNDMACHINE: POKE 9113,x

The value entered here will be written to the audio control register all 1/50 sec.

x can be:

  1: Switch base frequency from 64KHz to 15KHz (All # ~ 4 Octaves lower)

  2: Highpassfilter in #2 (controlled by #4)

  4: Highpassfilter in #1 (controlled by #3)

32: Clock speed #3 1.79 MHz.

64: Clock speed #1 1.79 MHz.

":" - Define Label

"J" - Jump to Label

"V" - Speed (This might be, what you are looking for)

Default is: "V1", you can use Values from 1-5. The following table shows the absolute length of a note at base speed 1/50:

I hope, that helps.
