How some constructions could be incorporated to the canyon... assuming room available in gram...

Wow, having some actual targets to work on (such as bridges, buildings) woudl be cool. I could see a bridge where the bridge won't fall until the supports are destroyed.

I hope Hank is following this thread and seeing what awesomeness his initial request is inspiring!

Or maybe he is slapping his forehead and thinking: "That's not what I asked!"

Either way, it's something to get one mind's off all the bad news.

ok spritesheet 1.2

this is everything I have so far..

I added a couple of bombers, plus a little fighter, machine gun and all !

Then there is an assortment of tiles..

the first row can be tiled both ways, the second only horizontally.

At the bottom are some random ideas for ground targets (I know the buildings are modern, I just play around :)).

I'll be back with more !

Maybe each screen could become a "mission".

Objective would be to destroy all enemy assets, instead of generic red/orange/yellow spheres.

Disrupt the enemy fleet!

Destroy the enemy fuel supply!

Get rid of the convoy!

Those look great but then what would count as a miss?

Since the whole original game seems based around a certain number of misses equals game over

And how would you switch between aircraft? Without the specific boulders to hit you are currently using?

Not trying to dissuade these awesome screens just wondering how they would change the existing game parameters.

Love the new direction ! it opens up lots of possibilities for miniature guns, vehicles, boats, installations, that I like to draw !

OK those red Lego bricks have to go :P  let's draw a better bridge support..

Great, thanks for your work TIX!

Here are some ideas to stimulate creativity...

- small airplanes parked on runway, control tower, radar, hangars, etc.

- civilian buildings (collateral damage to be avoided possibly)

- AA guns, sirens

- jeeps, train

- guard stations, light poles

- guard rails, street signs

- docked ship, cranes, containers

Edit:  something is wrong in the dimensions, in the screenshot the size difference is humongous..

in reality they are perfect !! so carry on, back to business, nothing to see here  :D

Once we "stabilize" the tileset, I'm thinking we could even let folks around here try their hand at designing a few levels... ?

Just need to follow a couple steps to get a tile editor working, then export results as CSV. I could post a tutorial.

Let's try this:

I have attached the latest files (tmx, tsx, png).

Once you open Tiled, select "open file".

Filter by "Tiled Map Files". Then open canyon.tmx.

Once it is open, select "add external tileset". Then open canyon.tsx.

If you look into the .tsx, you will see that it points to a canyon.png file. Make sure you have it.

On my computer, have all 3 files on my desktop area: .tmx, .tsx, .png.

This is what you should see if all is fine:

Here is a wild thought... What if the game took on a Time Pilot element, and you started in 1865 (ballon over a bridge) then to 1918 (zeppelin over city) then 1940 (bomber over fuel dumps) then 1950 (UFO over nuclear power plants)

And of course then it would be...  Time Bomber ;-)
