sparkdrummer
Anybody have a copy of Joypaint Pal 2.0? I need for use with Certificate 99. It must be 2.0, 1.0 will not work.
+9640News
If I am not mistaken, I think Joypaint had some special encryption on the disk???
sparkdrummer
I need version 2.0 of Joypaint Pal because it can view and edit pictures for use with Certificate 99 2.0. Both produced by Great Lakes. Encryption is not a problem.

sparkdrummer
Thanks for your efforts guys, but Joypaint Pal 2.0 isn't there. I believe it was released in 1988.

sparkdrummer
Thanks Ciro i just tried the disk and I also failed to get it to load. The file J_2 is the main program, I think. it’s got DSK1.BIT at the beginning of the file which I don’t think is correct.
+mizapf
Lots of disk protection magic ... The files J.1, J.2, J.3 have an ASCII 30 character at the position of the period.
+adamantyr
I am pretty sure I only have Joypaint 1.0 as well, but this second disk appears to have a complete loader. JOYPNT2.DSK And trying to extract files from it fails, so yeah, copy protected. Ugh! ? And I don't have my original disks anymore. ti99iuc
I usually use Disk Manager 1000 v6.0 to copy floppies, is there something better to use to also copy floppies also with protections like Joy Paint 2?
+mizapf
Seems to run in MAME. You start into Extended Basic, it loads something that resembles the E/A cartridge, and option 5 loads UTIL1 and UTIL2. @ciro: Copy-C may be able to copy it.
sparkdrummer
I do know that TIDIR does not recognize the J?1,etc files. I have had to copy straight using Paulo’s software in Windows 98. I do not think there is any disk protection per se, but I don’t know for sure.
Flottmann1
JOYPAINT99 is Protected ! (also Qualitysoft, SpadxIII ect.) I created Disc Images from protected disks via serial cable with TRANS on TI and V9T9/Recv at PC, see in this Video a Modul Transfer, also works with discs STARTDSK.dsk Edited March 28, 2020 by Flottmann1
+mizapf
Since the DSK file seems to work, and DSK has no sector metadata or other track information, a sector copier should be able to do it.
sparkdrummer
Success! After some creative searching I found Joypaint Pal 2.0 on the WHT. The dsk contains no protection. JOYPAL20.dsk

sparkdrummer
I needed it badly to work with Certificate 99 2.0 to manipulate the font, border, signature and graphic files. I don’t give up very easily. Edited March 31, 2020 by sparkdrummer Grammar
Ed in SoDak
I purchased both JP & JP Pal BITD but I think I only upgraded JP and not Pal. The original disks are stashed with other original disks that were my backup and I haven't come across those yet. My old "work" disks don't have version info. I did look for ya but had nothing useful to add. Glad you found it! I had a goal of home publishing and wanted to do it on my TI if possible. I used both programs for awhile and liked them, but I also moved to Mac about that time, and frankly, well,... it was Apples to Oranges to compare. Same for my hard-earned learning stint using Printer's Apprentice, also good but no contest versus Mac with a scanner, inkjet and laser printers. The other difference was the two or three grand the big jump to Mac cost! And that was in the low-cost tier. -Ed
