Crapola Norton..I think it's way overdue for replacing. I think I quit using in back in 2009.

I don't use kapersky either.

Just the stuff in win7&10 and if needed then that other, I forget the name for spam and cookies, can't recall the name..

Since I'm down with back pain today..i can't think straight... but no Norton plz

.no virus though!!

seriously man we've tried to get Norton to even tell us what's wrong and they aren't responding because they are a fly-by-night company they have absolutely no right blocking any websites if they have no process for it to be resolved both Don and myself have contacted them a number of times and there has been no response and no proof of any issue on the site and no record it sounds to me like they are out of business and they are just collecting your money every year for using their service and providing no service in return other than blocking sites randomly without any reason Malwarebytes is constantly updated has a override function and does a lot more to protect you then Norton ever did..

Eric Bray may have found the problem:

When I tested the download link of the FTP WHTECH site, I came across the fact that the links to the complete collection of Barry Traver's Diskazine, "The Genial Traverler", were in files suffixed with ".exe" and that most modern (2020) browsers will not allow their users to download and run files with that suffix. So, I zipped my collection of "The Genial Traverler" diskazines and placed them on the above 'cloud' site.

The unzipped disks are in V9T9 (Win994a) format and you may have to run Fred Kaal's program, "TiDir", to convert them into TIFILES format.

So the problem is, in fact, that Norton is broken and blocking sites for no reason? Good to know.

If you use Windows 10 just use only the Windows Defender. Meanwhile it does a very good job.
I'd recommend you add Malwarebytes to that. Defender does do some but not all malware.. also it's free if you run it manually or you can pay for it and get real-time scanning and web protect

Yes malware bytes us what I meant earlier..

Well go figure, Norton blocks a Windows Executable file..hahaha.. that splains everything...

Throw away that Norton...

I used, we used Norton for years in the PC world early on, as a tech for casinos and later a DOD department, BUT windows 7 came out with defender and Malwarebytes came out with a standalone program before that and Norton couldn't stop real viruses, instead they would tell you all the crap you have to do to Clean the PC.  Just like all the other AVs.

So we stopped using Norton everywhere.. my advice, again, unclutter your PC by removing Norton, install Malwarebytes, use Windows defender.

And turn off windows Cortana

  1. Click the search box or the Cortana icon next to the Start key.
  2. Open Cortana's settings panel with the gear icon.
  3. In the settings screen, turn off every toggle from On to Off.
  4. Next, scroll to the very top of the settings panel, and click on Change what Cortana knows about me in the cloud.

Indeed i turned Cortana OFF too.... in a litte different way.

I opened the registry-editor with the command  "regedit" with adminrights.

There i went to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search"

Here i changed the value of "AllowCortana" to "0" (Zero) to turn it off.

Cheers

yes, this is what I do on every WIN10 installation:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search]
"AllowCortana"=dword:00000000
"BingSearchEnabled“=dword:00000000
"CortanaConsent“=dword:00000000
