ldelsarte
Dear fellow Atari 8-bit fans, I was reading this document: Atari 835 Direct Connect Modem Field Service Manual - FD100268 Rev.1 March 1983 (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1245202/Atari-835.html?page=35#manual) When I noticed something I never paid attention to before: Page 5-1, Parts list CO60557 FCC Phone cord CO60558 TAP (Canadian) Phone cord Questions to you guys: - Where the two cords included in the box? - Was there one box sold in the USA with the CO60557 FCC Phone cord, and a different variation sold in Canada with the CO60558 TAP (Canadian) Phone cord? - What is a TAP phone cord anyway? - Why do these two part numbers not appear in the engineering parts list of Jan 13, 1984? Bonus question: Does anyone have seen the original "Atari 835 Test Diskette" mentioned on page 3-1? Does it have a reference? (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1245202/Atari-835.html?page=17#manual) Thank you for your expertise and advice... Kind regards, Laurent
ldelsarte
So, is there really no Canadian Atari fans here who could tell me what a "TAP Canadian phone cord" is and why it's so different from the US FCC phone cord?
+Nezgar
Could be the 4-prong connector that old phones phones used, mostly the Bakelite ones. These weren't specific to just Canada though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_jack_and_plug 2
ldelsarte
Thanks a lot. I had never seen it (I'm French). I assume that Atari had the 835 distributed both in US & Canada : - in the US with the CO60557 FCC Phone cord and English manual - in the Canada with the CO60558 TAP (Canadian) Phone cord and English & French manuals That's only an assumption. But thanks for your reply, @Nezgar, it really helps
