JagChris
Didn't they solve that on Hover Strike? I don't remember seeing any affine warping in that game. The general idea for 3D on the Jaguar can go like this (note that there's quite a few ways games can handle this): 68000: Run the game logic. Once per frame, tell Tom to render the display. Another way it was done was shutting off the 68k after startup. Let the DSP help the GPU.

JagChris
In fairness to Adisak he never actually said that he stopped using the 68k but he did say that he used the GPU and DSP together. It was my assumption that he used Corley s techniques. However Scott Corley did say that he eliminated the 68k McGroarity insinuated that he used it from Ruiner onward. But Scott never clarified when exactly he started using it. It would be interesting to check Ruiner and vidgrid and see if how much 68k were used in those. JagChris
Oh and the Ray tracing demo HVS released. TRF would be another interesting one to poke into. See what's going on there.
+CyranoJ
So basically you quoted titles that you just admitted are not confirmed as examples for things you don't actually know if they did what you claimed. Great contribution to the discussion.
JagChris
why don't you use your expertise to find out how or if at all their techniques evolved like they say it did? Aren't you curious?

Great contribution to the discussion. You're right. I made assumptions on the time line for the evolution of the techniques they said they had developed on the Jag. Rereading everything in the end Adisak had a DSP engine that was 30x more efficient than anything Atari had and allowed it to help the GPU do what it does and play sound. Corley pioneered the GPU/DSP manager, the elimination of the use of the 68k after startup along with the risc GCC big fix. Put it all together and at the end they had a setup that didn't use the 68k after startup and the DSP doing what it does and helping the GPU with the programmer not having to worry about overlays. Along with the option to use C on the GPU seamlessly if the programmer wished. If what they said is true then looking through their roms like you did should show evidence of things evolving towards that point. If what they said isn't true then you will see evidence to the contrary. Edited June 20, 2020 by JagChris Spelling

Adisak today is considered one of the best technical advisors around. Disprove his 'guesswork'. And if it's so easy to find out as you claimed should be very easy for you to disprove these claims and keep expectations low. JagChris
No it wasn't proven wrong. You have not disproved that HVS accomplished those things before they were done. But I realize you have a vested interest in keeping expectations low.

JagChris
Yeah that's absolute hypocrisy just looking at your recent responses. I tried being nice but once again any real discussion is squashed under nastiness. With the usual sycophants liking it. You're not even polite. It's a shame no non Reboot discussion is allowed around here. Some poor bastard even started a MK thread when the sources were released and it wasn't long before some suckup jumps in with yanno with all the great ports lately no one even needs to think about MK blah blah. What ports? Barbarian? Ikari Warriors? Holy crap. You guys have ruined any real conversation in this forum. 1
