Atari 8Bit Game Patches

Yes, totally, the $ is needed to show it's not a decimal address, although it's pretty obvious that an address / amount using letters is hexadecimal its needs to be shown just to make sure....Most debuggers know that if it has letters it is hex so no need to add the $ but not all. Remember that 8000 Hex ISN'T the same as 8000 hex in Decimal...So its all important...

Hey EddyFree, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You (etc)  for enabling me to play more than 3-5 minutes into some of my all-time favorite Atari games (especially Wizard of Wor). It took me a lot of googling to imagine and discover your amazing contributions for Atari 8bit game players.

And thank you to the moderator(s) of AtariAge Forum for making this discussion and software exchange possible.

Best Wishes from a long-time Atari 800XL user in Ann Arbor, MI.

You are very welcome. It's good to know people are getting use out of them, makes the effort worthwhile. Thanks for the nice comments and best wishes to you in return.

I adapted the alphabetized compilation first submitted by AtariAge member "FUL" in July, 2021 from all the patches submitted by AtariAge member "EddyFree" through August 18, 2021. I added a few screen shots from the AtariAge Forum with original comments from member "EddyFree". This compilation helps me to decide which Atari 8-bit games to test and play using Altirra and Retroarch-Wii.

Jumpman Fixed Number of Lives ???

I am not skilled enough to find a permanent cheat for Jumpman. I used the Cheater editor in Altirra to discover an "active memory location" where player lives are decreasing.  I tried these settings and they seem to work OK for me.

Jumpman: $30F0 = $06

Jumpman Jr:  $070a = $03

I will appreciate all corrections to this post. I searched all over The Google and I could not find any patched versions or trainer codes for these two fantastic & frustrating games.

Jumpman set number of lives using Altirra Cheater.

   $30F0 = $06    Save as Cheater address:value

Can use the same atcheats file in many variations of Jumpman.

This code pair also seems to work in Omnivore levels of Jumpman.

(6 Lives appear after you lose your current life.)

THANK YOU from a long-time Atari 800 fan. After 35+ years, it is fun to play some of these game levels beyond 1 and 2.  Ha Ha.

Another big advantage of your contributions is the ability to use a patched version with an emulator that does not accept cheat codes.

Such as RetroArch Atari800-libretro.

The patch Red/White Ball Counts In Any Cart = [C9FFD013:XXFEXXXX] seems to generate no difference.

Also, the first colors are red and blue. (a typo?)

Also, while I'm dropping by, here's a "sneak peek" at something I've been working on. I've only tested it in emulation so I'd be interested to know how it works on real hardware. For best results, turn SIO patches off in emulation to get the usual disk load speed. This is only a single "prototype". Let me know what you think.

Nice one, tried the trainer and see that if you enable inf lives its game over if you get killed

Since it's a proto for evaluation and not a release I crippled the game on purpose. The infinite lives cheat is internally disabled but the others are there fully available for evaluation.

What about the "info screen", anybody notice that? I decided to make some patches for the game "Mouskattack" but when I started playing it I had no clue that I could move the cat faces and that they could be used to block the paths of the mice. Unfortunately the game doesn't have its own "info screen" stating this so I had to look up how to play online. Then I thought that there are several games that could use an info screen so I came up with my own technique. Of course, I've always been a fan of loading screens also so I threw one of those on there too. The total cost is about an extra 3k(23 more SD sectors) added to the game files and of course every section (info screen, load screen, trainer) is modular and optional. I also made the info screen and trainer transparent, having to be activated by holding the joystick trigger.
