mikesk8
Good evening, Could you please recommend me a good replacement for Atari 800 (non XL) power supply available in Europe? Thank you! Michael
ebiguy
I use a RockPower NT 8 9V AC/2100mA for 1050 disk drive which is also 9V AC. I guess 2A is enough for a 800. There are 2 versions: one with UK plug and one with EU plug.
+gnusto
<This is wrong, see below. I misread your first post> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303496813236 Or equivalent, there are youtube videos on how to build one. USB chargers with 2A output are common and all over the place. +gnusto
Ok then, read too fast. No reason to get excited. This one maybe? Specs seem right. https://www.poweradaptorsuk.co.uk/3000ma_9v_Mains_AC_AC_Power_Adaptor_p/ta30009ac.htm Edited July 11, 2020 by gnusto Found a better link
+gnusto
And there are equivalent versions for any model - for power specs for the various devices (and computers), look here: http://www.atarimania.com/faq-atari-400-800-xl-xe-what-are-the-power-requirements-for-my-atari-components_59.html Edited July 11, 2020 by gnusto
+Spancho
I bought recently two RockPower Power Supply NT 20 EU 9V AC 4000mA for my 800 and floppy drives. These are used for music instruments and you should find them in such stores.

I have found NT 21 with similar spec; not sure why it’s more expensive than NT

I actually cut the cable off from a dead Atari power supply.

The NT 21 is 2.5 mm and the NT 8 is 2.1 mm. I don't think the NT 21 will work (or the connection will be loose). You need the NT 8 not the NT 21. I was just planning to buy it as thought Atari needs 2.5mm NT 8 then
mikesk8
Rockpower NT 8 seems discontinued (several shops confirmed). I also checked the forum and there is a contradictory information regarding Atari 800 plug size 5.5x2.1mm vs 5.5x2.5mm - do you know which one in the end is the optional/original size? mikesk8
After a lot of feedback/emails/searches I have ended up with RockPower NT 21 Power Supply (9V AC/2100 mA 5.5 x 2.5mm), and it works great (including the plug). I have been looking for NT 8 everywhere in Europe, but its discontinued (confirmed by few dealers + distributor).
