BIGHMW
In this episode, mentally disabled musician and entertainer Ray Jackson takes a look at an arcade classic that wound up never really being officially released, the superb Venture for the Atari 5200 SuperSystem. Normally, we would be able to afford to you the ROM or .bin file of every game we review here on The Atari Report, but due to potential legal reasons that are beyond even my control, as well as by express request from the original program owner, we are sorry to not be able to afford to you the program for this particular game. We do apologize for this inconvenience. #Venture #Atari5200 #TheAtariReport
patroclus99
Well, Mean Hamster Software Inc. who had the rights to Exidy titles is kaput; so, what legalities remain? Oh I see, Gregarious Games DBA CollectorVision LLC. . . looks like they sell some mini-arcade piddly-diddlies, and merchandise the ColecoVision Flashback. . . and some Luminart. . . thingy. They have the registered trademark, but I guess someone else owns the copyright to the source-code? Does someone have an exclusive license to this copyright, if not, what's the deal? Publisher AA sells a 5200 production of Venture with a commission-sales-license to the author. . . or some such arrangement. Who owns the source-code anyway. . .this guy? Oh well, who cares. . . Space Dungeon was wa-a-a-y cooler anyway, rockin' firing-rate. Thank you for posting! I had forgotten about Venture, I think I played it at the arcade a couple of times. . . didn't even know there was a ROM for it. I enjoyed watching the video! patroclus99
While I think of it, folks might find this brief interview with Rex Battenberg who wrote Space Dungeon (Taito cabinet version) interesting.
