Deemar
Someone just gave me all of these. It appears they allow using an Atari 2600 controllers on the ZX Spectrum but I'm wondering what the IDE interface is supposed to plug into. Does anyone know? mr_me
Are you talking about the centronics connector? Maybe a parallel printer.
KG7PFS
The Dk'tronics interface is for a parralel printer, not IDE. I could be wrong (beleive it or not, it's happened before) but I don't beleive Kempston joysticks are Atari compatible. (Neither are Sinclair, MSX, or Coleco.) fimbulvetr
Kempston joysticks are the same as Atari. Sinclair joysticks are not. Which is why the Kempston interface is so popular with the ZX crowd...
Deemar
Are you saying I have this connected incorrectly and they are separate devices? Why would you hook up a printer to a gaming console?

You would hook up a printer for the same reason as any other 8 bit computer.
mr_me
The zx spectrum console has a fun built in game called Basic; some people like to print out their achievements for off-line review. Another one called Tasword, loaded from tape, allows people to write stories; the printer lets people share them with others. Why would you hook up a printer to a gaming console? I think the dk'tronics cartridge has a pass-through connector to allow you to plug in more stuff (like the kempston cartridge you have) while using the printer. Those two are separate devices. And yes, that connector looks awfully like a parallel printer connector, and since it appears you haven't realized this yet, the ZX Spectrum is a computer.
