webdeck
What is the best way to connect a Geneve to a TV with HDMI inputs to get the best image? Using the composite output to an HDMI converter isn't very legible for 80 column output. The Geneve can output RGB instead of composite - is that different from YPbPr component video? +arcadeshopper
You need a rgb analog monitor with a 15khz refresh rate. Basically the same as an Amiga or old Mac. But with an entirely unique connector. To do hdmi you can get one of these and a scart to hdmi box https://shift838.fwscart.com/SCART-Genie_9640_V2/p5569983_18571176.aspx I prefer to use a Samsung 910mp lcd that is the proper 4:3 ratio and has scart already. tmop69
If it can output component/scart/vga you can use the OSSC scaler to connect to an HDMI monitor for the best visual experience. It works great with PAL TI99.

Can you point to a good reference for switching the Geneve from composite/pal over to RGB?
+arcadeshopper
Can you point to a good reference for switching the Geneve from composite/pal over to RGB? It's a single jumper.. in the Geneve manual http://ftp.whtech.com/Geneve/GMANUALnoads.pdf. FOLLOW THIS STEP ONLY IF YOU ARE HOOKING UP AN ANALOG RGB MONITOR. The combination video port is factory preset for using an RF modulator interface (monochrome monitor, composite color monitor, or television set) and, therefore, you will need to reset the combination port for your analog RGB color monitor. Before inserting the MYARC 9640 Computer Card as in step 5 below, reset the pin located on the board directly in back of the combination video port, from GND to R (RED). See Figure 2, page 7. Also refer to Connector Pinouts, Appendix E, page in your MYARC Reference Manual.Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk

webdeck
Well, it took more than a month for my OSSC to arrive from China, but it was worth the wait. I have never seen my Geneve with such a crisp display, since I never had an RGB monitor for it back in the day. Geneve with RGB jumper set -> DIN 8 cable -> SCART-Genie 9640 V2.0 -> SCART Cable -> OSSC (on AV1 RGBS) -> HDMI cable -> TV
