Side 3 and Ultimate Cartridge

Hi, 

 

I was reading about both and there seems to be some similarities. Can someone tell me the differences between Side 3 and Ultimate Cartridge and similarities? Why have one over the other? Or maybe you have both? 

 

I did search for a comparison but I did not find one. 

 

It is only informational, I'm really not trying to ask which one is best. The reality is that I don't know the differences.

In short, Ultimate Cart provides no hard disk or ATR loading functionality whatsoever. SIDE3 basically does everything Ultimate Cart does (and with a more powerful loader), but gives you an SD-card based hard disk, built-in SpartaDOS X, and a real time clock. SIDE3 can also be paired with Ultimate 1MB to provide highly compatible disk-image handling and bootable hard disk partitions, all managed from the same loader.
