Favorite Donkey Kong Country game

What is your favorite Donkey Kong Country Game?

Honestly, the first game is darn near perfect as it is... That being said, I still have better memories of Donkey Kong Country 2 and playing at a cousin's house. 

 

Love the music and the addition of some new features and creatures throughout the game. I'm willing to admit the nostalgia is a pretty big factor here. lol

 

Not big on DKC3 and haven't really played it enough to have a full opinion of it.

I love all three for the Super Nintendo. Tough choice between one and two but I went with two.

First one. I find that it has just the right difficulty and feels best to play.

I prefer the first one.  The older I get, the more I appreciate the simplicity in it's design compared to the other big SNES platformers.  All you have to do is run left to right and avoid hazards, the bonus rooms don't get you anything so you can ignore them.  The two sequels over complicated it with too many things to collect in each level.  I think it nails it with the tropical island atmosphere, whereas the second one was too dark/dreary and the third one took place in Canada.

My order of favorites are:

1. DKC2

2. DKC

3. DK64

4. DKC3

I do like Donkey Kong Country Returns a lot  as well, so that would go between DKC and DK64.

I think DKC1 was a standout title for the Snes, looking back at some of the advertisement it was obviously used to fight back against ps1 and saturn and the other competitors without people buying a new machine. I think DKC2 had some of the same magic, and is an enjoyable game in its own right. 

 

3 though, I've tried to play a few times and I just can't get into it.

I'm not a fan of the series but Donkey Kong Land was the most enjoyable.

Donkey Kong Land is a great portable, I should have added that as an option.

1-3-2 other deserves no vote (nor is it a 'country' game) might as well have put the Wii 3DS Switch games at least as they are part of the DKC line resurrected though I'd put them under the original trilogy too.  Thunderbird is right though, the 3 Lands on GB are solid.

 

I'd write it, but it would be re-writing it.  Zeta said it why DKC is better than the other two, overcomplicated a perfect formula.

I will admit that DKC2 does have some frustrating stages, and there are some really annoying gimmicks, but I still prefer it over DKC1. After I completed DKC1, all of a sudden it became too easy. I still get tripped up on many DKC2 stages. That is only my opinion though and I respect everyone's votes.

Ive been all over the place deciding which one is best from a kid to an adult. I think 3 is my favorite because of how much stuff there is to do in it. I also really like the sound track. All three really are top notch though and you can't go wrong with any of them.

I put an order before agreeing with zeta basically, DKC2 just I detest compared to the other two.  Simply put, they just made it a far more aggravating game, especially with those f'ing toll booths forcing some coin harvesting having to do some more progressively annoying stuff to get enough of those as the game went along.  3 had a little, but it was pretty optional so it was more like the original where it wasn't a pain.
