gandalf1369
Thanks @mozzwald. I have no problem pressing the "A" button when trying to update. As long as the FujiNet continues to work well when attached to my Atari 800 I'm good to go. Thanks again for your concern!!
tsom
Figured I'd post this here, as I'm having the same problem, but on one of the newer v1.3 FujiNets: I tried holding down the A button, but it doesn't make a difference. Looking at the logs, it looks like it's still trying to enter flash mode. One point I didn't make, for what it's worth, when it's trying to flash, all three lights are blinking - bright.. dim.. off.. bright.. dim... etc.

Then try to flash. If you have another cable, try it too (even though this one works with your other FujiNet).

The FujiNet is communicating with the computer since it's showing the debug output, it's just having a problem with flashing for some reason. This worked for me on my non-modded Atari 800XL. Thank you! PROBLEM: Prior attempts (MacOS and Windows64) to use #fujinet flasher to update firmware version 0.5.8934daff failed due to: "Unexpected error: ESP Chip Auto-Detection failed: Failed to connect to Espressif device: Timed out waiting for packet header" SOLUTION: Forcing into flash mode by holding button-A when I plugged in the USB cable did the trick. With the older firmware my #fujinet was hanging on the "MOUNT AND BOOT" blue screen, and then dropping down into AtariOS BASIC "Ready" mode. I was unable to launch anything. Now it seems to work properly as I've launched a few games from the internet. How great!
_The Doctor__
for others that are having issues, try a slower or faster usb port on your flashing pc, you could also try using a powered usb hub... it's helped other trying to program other projects on these boards.... mozzwald
For anyone having trouble flashing their FujiNet device, please follow this procedure: 1. Plug FujiNet into computer with MicroUSB cable 2. Run FujiNet Flasher 3. Select COM port of FujiNet device 4. Click "Flash FujiNet Firmware" and immediately press and HOLD button A 6. Continue holding button A until you see "Erasing flash (this may take a while)", then release button A 7. Wait for it to finish flashing and you're done I was able to get a Windows 7 computer that could not flash any FujiNet I plugged into it and this process worked every time.

Back2skooldaze
Hi just to add to this thread, Ive just received my 2nd Fujinet 1.5 but this time i bought an XE version for the 130 XE and my previous one is the XL version. I went to update the XE version and i kept getting this error Using 'COM3' as serial port. Starting firmware upgrade... Getting latest firmware from fujinet.online.. FujiNet Version: 0.5.bbbb9f96 Version Date/Time: 2021-07-17 23:14:15 Build Date/Time: Sat Jul 17 23:40:30 UTC 2021 Connecting........_____....._____....._____....._____....._____....._____....._____ Unexpected error: ESP Chip Auto-Detection failed: Failed to connect to Espressif device: Timed out waiting for packet header The blue light would slowly flash on the XE version but then reported this error? So i had to force the Fujinet in to flash mode which then works great. So when updating the XL version as soon as i clicked the flash firmware on the flasher the Fujinet went straight in to flash mode and updated. So in future i think i might have to force the XE version in to flash mode pressing the A button whilst plugging in the usb cable to the Fujinet? I got worried when i kept getting the error? But all is ok and both Fujinets are up to date
_The Doctor__
version 1.5 should be version 1.5 regardless of what enclosure it is housed in... are we re-arranging something to but it in a different style case? I wasn't aware of that being the situation. Could be interesting to note the differences of internal fixes/bodges/ or chip manufacturers... would be nice to pin down what's making these differences. This will always put the FujiNet into flashing mode and you can do it if needed. It's interesting that you have to do this with one v1.5 and not the other. Are you using the same USB cable & computer to flash both FujiNets? Makes me think there's a (minor) hardware issue, but it if you can flash by force, then it should be ok. 7 hours ago, _The Doctor__ said: version 1.5 should be version 1.5 regardless of what enclosure it is housed in... are we re-arranging something to but it in a different style case? Case makes no difference on the guts. All the differences between versions have been and still are on the Wiki in addition to the README files for each version in the fujinet-hardware repo.
_The Doctor__
That didn't read the way I meant it to towards the end... I was hoping the fellow would compare his two 1.5's and note any differences... there shouldn't be any unless the vendor chose some other supplier or chip/component variants
Back2skooldaze
Hi I have used the same usb cable and the same computer. All i was pointing out is my newer XE version had to be forced in to flash mode where as my previous XL version it went straight in to flash mode? Both are 1.5 fujinets Edited July 24, 2021 by Back2skooldaze
_The Doctor__
as pointed out the guts should be identical, the case is purely aesthetics. If they are acting differently, then the build of the PCB may have differences in the chips/components the vendor has used... so knowing which is working as it should and which is not needs the comparison so it may be tracked down as to what is causing the issue. Back2skooldaze
Hi The Doctor, It would be nice if the version was displayed in the ip/mac/firmware vers details page on the fujinet. I think the only way to know exactly what version my XE fujinet is will be opening it up. The version is above the sio connector on the pc. Sleepy
Hi, we tried to update an actual Funjinet (1.5). One unit was no problem, another unit first doesn´t go into update mode.
