ClassicReplay
Atari 7800 Discovery Thanks for letting me join, I know absolutely zilch about the Atari Consoles. I had an Atari 800XL once upon a time and absolutely loved it, so many great memories. So I went on a bit of a discovery with the Atari 7800 the other day and it really impressed me. Left me thinking “what if”. I thought I’d share it here, it’s nothing special, but just wanted to share my thoughts on what I think of this console and its games. Anyways here’s my video, I played every game using RetroArch and built this vid from it. https://youtu.be/TogzSRUVEMc Thx Edited December 30, 2020 by ClassicReplay

Unfortunately, RetroArch leverages the horribly outdated ProSystem emulator with numerous graphical issues among other things. Quickly captured below are just a few of the issues from the aforementioned video created: Commando: Desert Falcon: Double Dragon: Kung-Fu Master: Especially, compare Kung-Fu Master to how it really appears under the system: For a closer experience to how the games are under the original console hardware via emulation, please try A7800, BupSystem, or JS7800 instead.
+cjherr
Really enjoyed your video. Have fun with the system, and if you can, check out some of the amazing home-brews that have been put out. P.S. Subscribed

It's an arcade port and reasonably fun, along with being exclusive to Atari.

Jinks
Welcome. Please do not emulate! It can make you blind if your mom is not there to stop you. 1
ClassicReplay
Fortunately emulation is a good way to discover hardware that you know nothing about. I personally think it’s a positive first step, but thanks anyway.

It was really cool to get to try things like Vectrex, Atari Lynx and Nintendo Virtual Boy via emulator when actual hardware was so hard to find. We ended up doing Lynx and Vectrex, and I hope we eventually get to do Virtual Boy. It brings these platforms to such a wider audience than original hardware could do, and once expose, some of them may end up inspired to track down the originals.
Synthpopalooza
A7800 is very good. I use Prosystem still, when debugging POKEY music ... certain settings play better than A7800, while certain others are better on A7800
