Name this computer

Hi folks, 

 

I believe this is a Commodore PC but which specific model? I cannot find any writing on the outside other than CBM Computers as shown in the picture...

Other than the Commodore (CBM) branding it looks like a generic PC clone, so without specific specs it could be almost anything under their umbrella.

Actually it might just be a generic PC where somebody stuck a "CBM" badge on it.   That badge does look kinda DIY.  It's wasn't  uncommon to see adhoc badges or stuff like "Intel Outside" stickers.

 

Or alternatively there might have been a local "Mom and Pop" PC retailer who called themselves CBM Computers that sold that.

Yeah. If it was a computer from Commodore Business Systems, it probably would have the chicken lips C= on the small label, not CBM in print.

Yeah, I also could not find any pictures searching the web for "Commodore pc".

 

I am curious when I fire it up and when I open it to see if I am going to find any Commodore chips or messages on the screen. Most probably not ?

You won’t find C= chips in there. Or anything “Commodore” on the screen.

I've got a faint deja-vu about having seen "CBM Computers" before. An online search of course yields several operations around the world still active today named such, but I seem to remember some then-contemporary business named such.

 

One can ask the question if they named themselves such to benefit from clueless customers who didn't know the difference, or simply wanted to fly under the radar.
