Gunstar
I received my Pokeymax V3 today! Ready to be installed in my 1200XL, already heavily upgraded, as you can see in my signature. But it won't be the last upgrade and/or mod to this beauty... I will officially have 4 "spare" Pokey chips now with the addition of Pokeymax to my 800 and 1200XL and the removal of dual-Pokey upgrades. Maybe I'll have them framed.

The PM V2 document showed two 10 uF caps in line of L-Audio Analog and R-Audio Analog. Are these caps now on the PM V3 PCB installed or it´s useful to add them? If so, they should be shown in this picture.
foft
These caps are now installed on the PCB. This is also true for recent revisions of Pokeymax v2. Edited June 11, 2021 by foft 2
Duddie
V2B and V3 have caps on board. V2 still needs them, however, most power amplifiers have such caps on inputs, therefore even if you do not install them and sound isn't distorted - you can skip installation of them. Also, S/PDIF and PS/2 parts can be skipped - they are optional. AUD IN1 and GTIA IN/BELL also are optional. PokeyMAX requires only proper connection to A4-A7 to work properly. patjomki
Now to the software side of things. Is it possible to play all devices (pokey, sid, psg, covox) at the same time? That would lead to quite an impressive orchestra. ??
foft
Yes it is possible. However nothing plays them all at once - yet! There are PSG, STC and SID players from mono. There is a SID player from xxl. There are a bunch of covox players. There are many dual pokey players, though no quad ones I know of yet. I wrote a basic drum machine demo for the Paula-like sample dma. There is plenty of fun to be had developing for it. I am really looking forward to keep a closer look at all the new programming possibilities. If only I had more time for it.
Duddie
I am awaiting a day when I will see fantastic demo or game using its full capabilities. Gravity Worms game will use it. It will be released soon.
venom4728a
I have my PokeyMAX 3 Installed. But how do I use it? I have Pokeysound. I have my sound jack wired to the LEFT RIGHT and GROUND of combined sound pins. I have the pins connected for A4,A5,A6 & A7 plus Bell. When I run SlightSID I get no sound but the screen looks like its working. How do I activate the individual sounds chips? Has the documentation been released somewhere? Thank You!!! Duddie
It should work like regular Pokey. If there is sound in the demo/game, it should play. Do you have sound via monitor socket?
foft
Which sid player software are you using? This one?
foft
Dev guide is here http://www.64kib.com/pokeymax_files/pokeymax_dev_122.pdf Can be fun to poke some sounds from basic etc.
venom4728a
I am using the sound from pins 3,4 and 7. Through those pins I hear DISK Beeps, keyboard clicks, I hear stereo sound from pokeys. When I play SID I hear nothing.
venom4728a
I was using the SlightSID from XXL webpage. It would load the file and display like it was playing but I heard no sound. Then I loaded the SlightSID for ECLAIRE and with that version I have SID and STEREO SID. THANK YOU! Is there a preferred MOD & PSG player too?
foft
Try the psgplayer and stcplayer from here http://mono.i-demo.pl I know mono added pokeymax support but am not 100% sure they are uploaded to his site. For mod, I don’t think anyone wrote one for the sample engine yet. Of course you can use covox players that support d280.

foft
I'll put some players here: http://www.64kib.com/pokeymax_files/software/players/ Also some example software here http://www.64kib.com/pokeymax_files/software/examples/ So far they are sparse. The sid player linked above and the drumkit example I wrote. + sid wave test example + psg wave test example Edited June 15, 2021 by foft
foft
Also some stereo and covox demos from previous discussion threads: http://www.64kib.com/pokeymax_files/software/demos/
flashjazzcat
SIDE3 owners: don't forget that a PDM (Fujiconvert) player is now built into the loader, which will auto-sense Covox with PokeyMAX 2 and 3.

But not like a guide. As it should be wired to quad version with Auto Control. or quad version with Covox or stereo. To do this, I would first have to know what kind of PokeyMax V3 I own. A quad, or stereo? What A4, A5, A6 and A7 is. Which of these is for Covox and which of them is for Sid, PSG or Sample. None of that is in it. Duddie
Pokeymax v3 has only one version. Full. And you need to use a wiring diagram from a few posts above.

Thank you very much. PokeyMaxes can be wired? Where exactly do I wire the 2 audio INPUTS? Do they all need to be on pin 11 of the SIO? Do the capacitors have to be attached? All this is missing in the instructions.
