Gamemoose
I dug out my old 1702 monitor yesterday to take it for a spin to see if it worked. It does but I noticed a type of "bleed" to the right of objects on the screen. There's also some discoloration on the right side of the screen, meaning it needs degaussing. Any thoughts on how to fix that bleed? Also is there a recommended way of degaussing? Thanks!
Gamemoose
Well, after doing a little research online, the only suggestion I saw was "adjust the focus". So I took the plunge and popped my monitor open yesterday. I fiddled with the focus but that pretty much only did what I thought it probably would do-make the image sharp or blurry like an eye exam. I played with the rest of the knobs but didn't get a fix. I started playing more games on the NES and noticed on certain games, certain colors would have that bleed. In SMB, Mario, bricks and the pipes seem to have bleed but not text or clouds. In Doki Doki Panic, I couldn't see any noticable bleed. In Castlevania 2 the title lettering bled but everything else looked fine. I was using a flash cart loaded with all sorts of Japanese games that I never played and stumbled upon some, ahem, not so family friendly games. Funny enough, those were clear as a bell. So I'm now wondering if sone of the caps are starting to show age with certain colir frequencies or is it my flash cart? I haven't tested original carts yet. I didn't try running original NES carts yet.
