+atari2600land
This picture was taken with version 6.5 Notice the blurriness around the objects: the nose, the scissors, the demon, the score, it's all BLURRY. Why? And can it be fixed?
alex_79
The pixel's aspect ratio of a NTSC Atari 2600 differs from the one of a PAL console and none of them match the square pixels used by computer displays. So there's a bit of interpolation going on to keep the image aspect ratio the same as you'd get from real hardware. There are tons of settings you can change in the "Video & Audio" menu, including the ability to disable aspect ratio correction. Check the manual. +atari2600land
I disabled aspect ratio correction and got this: Which is a lot better. Thank you for your help.
DirtyHairy
Note that the amount of blurriness with aspect ratio correction enabled very much depends on your window size and resolution. If you run in fullscreen at a decent resolution there shouldn't be much to notice but, of course, tastes differ, and what is acceptable to someone might be totally irritating to someone else.
