TRS-80 Model 1 power supply?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone made one of these (http://www.trs-80.com/wordpress/zaps-patches-pokes-tips/zaps-model-i-power-supply/) for United States 120V outlets?

I see the PCB is available on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRS-80-Model-I-heavy-duty-power-supply-kit-for-project-builders-/154396340704?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286), but I can’t seem to find any source for the toroidal transformers, at least not the ones listed on the PCB for 110V, which I guess is the same as 120V?

Any recommendations for creating the 5 pin DIN power connector?  I tried making a composite video cable, which only requires soldering 2 wires, but it was a disaster.  I’d like to blame the mild tremors my hands have developed, but I think I just suck at soldering.

For 5 pin din's..

1)   use the hollow pin connector

2)   use flux

3)   stick the pins in the end of a carrot or potatoe to solder

Those DIN connectors are a real pita to solder.  I usually just buy a preassembled cable and snip it in half for two uses.
