+DarkLord
I know a lot of you old time gamers remember Nethack and all of it's various clones and offshoots. Well, we've got a version running on The DarkForce BBS now, and it's pretty cool (and very detailed!). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moria_(1983_video_game) https://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-st/moria Here are some screenshots of it actually running on the BBS: We're in a testing phase now, but it seems to be pretty solid so far...
Justin Payne
Unfortunally, as my C language teacher spoke, I was playing a bit too much Rogue.

Love Rogue on the Atari ST. One of the earlier games that I played and really got into. It was just so...Nethack with graphics. To once more hold the Amulet of Yendor in the light of day!

Zogging Hell
There was a Falcon version of Nethack with graphics was there not? I remember playing back in the late 90s.

+DarkLord
Well....I guess I spoke too soon. The game refuses to load any saved file but that of the last person who called/played. I've been through the docs and can't find anything about this. I didn't catch it because I only played my character. When someone else tried it, it loaded up *my* character. I'll have to think this over but for now, it's a no-go.
+DarkLord
Okay, I re-wrote the startup script and it seems to be working. We'll see how it goes...
Tillek
I've had this on SFHQ since... maybe actually back in the 90's. Never checked to see if it had the same problem with loading the last guy's game... I'll have to check on that. Of course, the way people play games, there will likely only be one guy playing anyway. I did notice it mentioned "Further versions available" but never saw any. We seem to be running the same version according to the loading screen. My files listing also seems to have a "manifest" text file that looks like there was a bigger archive (with source). Wonder if that's out there somewhere.
+DarkLord
Not a clue. Was going through my BBS games archive and noticed this one. I don't remember ever trying to set it up before. Since I'm a big RPG in general and Nethack in particular fan, I thought I'd give it a shot. This is one huge game for an online BBS game. 50 levels, IIRC the docs correctly and you face a Balrog at the end!
Android8675
My board has Rogue-JS on the web server. Runs great, but Moria is a huge upgrade from Rogue. I need to fix my server, all the ports are forked up. What happens when you want to run Foundry VTT.

Totally agreed. A dream of mine would be to see the online BBS game Moria updated to better graphics. Tough with VT52 and ANSI but still, I think a lot of little "touches" could be done to make it more visually pleasing. After all, look at Thieves Guild (although that is an entirely different game).

I feel like I just committed a cardinal sin. Am I being reprimanded? I do have a few Atari bases, and my system does recognize ATASCII terminals, but alas the menus are just .txt in that mode. Someday I'll tweak everything to look good on the 8-bits. PETASCII also works, but I have to fix my rev.proxy, it's not configured properly. +DarkLord
Nah, nothing cardinal my son. Just give us 3 "Hail Fuji!"'s and all is forgiven. I think most of us here, while Atari at heart, appreciate almost all things retro. In addition, I'm pretty sure that even us Atari SysOps and regular callers do call other non-Atari boards as well. Nothing wrong with diversity - I hear it's big these days... /rolls eyes.

Nothing more.

But yeah, I probably should have clarified but I was in a hurry for some reason... just wanted to make sure it wasn't missed for the list.
