catmando
Anyone find their official 9V lynx power adaptors are reading 12-13v instead of 9v? I have two and they are both reading the same?
+-^CrossBow^-
Yes this is normal for transformer based linear supplies like this. They will always read about that without a load on them. Once they are plugged into the system and it is powered one, they will usually drop down to about 10v thereabouts. Again the regulation inside the Lynx and other consoles takes that higher voltage and drops it back down to the required +5 the actual components require. Many of my 7800 and Genesis adapters read about 14.5v on the output from them and when plugged into the console will still only drop down to about 12v. Again, the regulators inside those consoles take that higher voltage and drop it back down to what the system actually needs. If you are that concerned with it, you could get a modern replacement that is a switching supply that will basically put exactly 9v and keep it there even under load.
gilsaluki
I found this issue as well. I have a switchable PSU (universal) with multiple connectors to use on a variety voltage and polarity possible outputs (3V, 4.5V, 6V, 9V, 11V). Weird thing is, at every setting, without a load, they ALL read about 13V. I am afraid to use it.
