odd video games

i have come across some odd games. i've heard about tape on games labels. i have  canyon bomber, circus atari, and a homerun.

under the name of the game is just black.  the weird thing is that circus atari  looks like tape as well, but when looking at ebay and google

i couldn't find anymore of circus atari black. below this description are some photos to help illustrate this. i apologize for the bad camera work.

This is an odd post.  The games are very plain and the talk of tape is down right otherworldly.  What happen here? Why it happen?  Is everyone OK?

There are Home Run and Canyon Bomber carts pictured that look like yours, with no "use with joystick controller" text under the title.

 

There's no picture like your Circus Atari... but if you scroll down to "2b. Controller type omitted re-releases (1986-1988)" on the page, that seems to match your carts. And Circus Atari is listed among them.

Atari Corp put a small piece of black tape on some of the labels when they got the controller info wrong.
Too cheap to print new labels.
