USA SC 1224 PSU in UK SC 1224 monitor - how to mod?

OK so i have an original UK 240v SC 1224 colour monitor and the PSU blew a long time ago and it's not repairable and they don't exist to replace

 

I do have a new 110v USA PSU which i can fit in place but obviously there is the voltage difference

 

However the voltage outputs of the PSU would likely be the same as i can see the output connections are the same on both UK and USA PSU's with same coloured wires and plugs, just in different places!

 

The only difference is the UK on/off rotary switch has 4 x wires (live and neutral IN and then live and neutral OUT) and the USA on/off rotary switch has 2 x wires with a capacitor across the 2 terminals

 

I have a USA rotary switch also

 

So what i'm asking is, if i fit the USA PSU with USA on/off switch and use a 110v step down transformer to power the monitor then would it work?

 

Obviously i am just looking at all this carefully first before i attempt to plug anything in at all

It sounds like the USA version is only switching the live wire and not live and neutral as the UK one does, 

the capacitor is just to stop arcing when the switch opens/closes to prevent contact pitting/burning.

it's highly likely the output voltages are the same, but really would need to see the USA PSU circuit.

This seems to be how USA PSU's work as i have also a 117V USA Falcon PSU and that is wired the same with just the live wire across the switch which has 2 x terminals (compared the the UK 4 x terminals) and the neutral wire goes straight to the PSU, capacitors across the power port
