S0nic
dead pokey on atari 130xe any chance to repair or ?
Beeblebrox
Hi. If ya sure it's a dead Pokey you can source an original or modern replacement and install it. (may involve desoldering old pokey as unlikely its socketed). Install a socket and pop in the new pokey. Firstly have you run the self test audio test on boot up BTW just to confirm no audio? Power up holding option key. Also are you sure it isn't that you aren't connected audio wise? How are you connected to your TV and or audio, via Din to RCA and composite, or svideo for example?Just trying to rule out other causes of no audio. Finally is this a stock unmodified 130XE just out of interest? ? Edited December 19, 2021 by Beeblebrox

S0nic
my friend do this for me as i dont have skill to do that, what he say to me, he says that pokey read only keyboard but when he move pokey keyboard read it anyway without pokey , he suspect that is problem in chip wich control memory , because he change memory chips and again nothing change so in his opinion its not problem in memory its problem he think in chip wich control memory , maybe pokey is ok but he cant check that till don't solve problem with chip wich control memory, so can you tell me what chip control memory or you know where can be problem *? edit: he add this picture and sound he get when he turn on diagnostic cartrige, memory usually report error $c000, on keyboard works select, start, option, rest keys from keyboard report esc stucked, and when he disconnect keyboard from boord without diagnostic cartrige he get only black screen, he check both ROMs and they are Okey work fine i send picture of board like my so you can mark where is chip wich control memeory or mark what we need to check to solve this Edited December 19, 2021 by S0nic

xrbrevin
MMU controls the main bank, EMMU is for the second bank if either has failed they can be replaced with GAL chips. see here: also, you can swap one end of the 2x resistors above the EMMU and it will swap the banks over - can help diagnose if one is amiss

In diagnostics cartridge, ESC key shows as stuck even with the keyboard disconnected, and even with POKEY removed. CPS SUPER SALT cartridge doesn't want to start, black screen and beep from the speaker. All memory replaced with known good ICs, still black screen on start. Both system ROM and BASIC ROM verified OK with known good images from internet this is what my friend write to me today , ok we will do what you say and then back here Edited December 20, 2021 by S0nic

S0nic
This is what we get from the production test cartridge, the super SALT cartridge doesn't even start. All RAM chips ase socketed and exchanged a few times, MMU and CPU also. No matter what, it is always the same. Also, EMMU is currently removed and rewired as in 65XE what you think guys? couldn't find any info on SysCheck, can anyone share a link to it? xrbrevin
user: @tf_hh sells the syscheck device also tell your friend to try another OS ROM. if yours is fried, you can easily make another using a 27128 EPROM the PIA chip is an 'off the shelf' part - see here:

_The Doctor__
If you have exchanged all chips and they are good as you say, that only leave socket and pcb pad trace problems... or a flaky ram chip that borderline works... possibly a timing issue... so make sure you exchanged ALL chips... pokey normally doesn't make ram fail... PIA can have some interaction though.. maybe you should have your friend talk with folks, the game of whisper down the ally never turns out too well.
