Steven Pendleton
I finally got Slap Fight working on MAME after about a month of it not working. I hate software emulators. Also got Kyuukyoku Tiger-Heli on Switch, so I tested some of the console versions of Kyuukyoku Tiger on there, as well. That Mega Drive version of Kyuukyoku Tiger is really damn hard, maybe even harder than the arcade version. Arcade Hishouzame - 7 Out Run - 3 Same! Same! Same! - (2 player version) - 17 Big difference with the 2P version, which plays radically differently from the original 1P version of the game; respawn on death instead of checkpoints and the game is considerably easier than the Japanese 1P version is. If you want a really hard game to play, get the original Japanese 1 player version and be ready to suffer. Really cool game, though. Best version, or at least the most balanced version and the one I prefer to play, is the Genesis/MD version. Slap Fight - 20 Nice to have the full screen size of the arcade version, but I think the MD version is better, so I'd probably recommend playing that, but this version is still really nice and highly recommended. Genesis/MD Kyuukyoku Tiger - 10 Same! Same! Same! - 18 Slap Fight MD - 273 Saturn Soukyuugurentai - 14 PC Engine Kyuukyoku Tiger - 36

carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Pac-Man - 17 min. (Datasoft version with the attract mode title screen and intermissions) Non-eligible board games: Advanced Civilization - 420 min. Everdell - 150 min. The video gaming part was a last minute addition right before Sunday ends. The board gaming part was planned months ahead, and was the fourth time out of five possible since 2016 where a friend of mine invited his friends over to a board game day. I did Africa a poor favor this time around, first winning a civil war and then losing another one shortly after, combined with some iconoclasm and herasy which brought me from 9 to 0 cities in one turn. We ended the game early when half of the players decided to leave and instead played a round of Everdell which I knew nothing about and would need to study all the cards and events before fully understanding.

crade
Only Intellivision this week. Any time I'm playing intellivision when she is around, my daughter always wants me to stop and play frog bog with her. Usually I like to beat her once in a while to teach her about being a good sport but I can't beat her at frog bog lol. She likes Dreadnaught factor too, although for her turn she mostly seems interested in watching the earth get blown up 65 Minutes - Buzz Bombers (for HSC) 25 Minutes - Deadlier Disc (Tron Rebooted) 25 Minutes - Frog Bog 15 Minutes - Dreadnaught Factor 6

carlsson
Here's the summary for Week 08, running from Feb 21 - 27. We logged 6686 minutes of eligible play, playing 105 games on a total of 24 systems. Top 10: 1. Phantasy Star IV (Genesis) - 710 min. 2. Out Run (Arcade) - 423 min. 3. Dino Crisis (PlayStation) - 393 min. (#2) 4. Pokemon Blue Version (Game Boy) - 319 min. 5. GoldenEye 007 (N64) - 287 min. (#5) 6. Slap Fight MD (Genesis) - 273 min. 7. YNXA (Atari Lynx) - 240 min. Space Raiders (CoCo 1 & 2) - 210 min. 3. Mysterious Stones: Dr. John's Adventure (Arcade) - 200 min. 4. Fast Food (Atari 2600) - 142 min. (PN#5) 5. Pinball Action (Arcade) - 79 min. (PN#7) 6. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 78 min. 7. Buzz Bombers (Intellivision) - 65 min. 7. Megamania (Atari 2600) - 65 min. 7. Minky Monkey (Arcade) - 65 min. 10. Gridrunner (C64) - 62 min. Top 10 systems: 1. Genesis - 1391 min. (#7) 2. Arcade - 911 min. (#6) 3. NES/Famicom - 687 min. (#2) 4. Atari 2600 - 674 min. (#1) 5. Atari Lynx - 605 min. (#5) 6. Game Boy - 410 min. (#10) 7. PlayStation - 393 min. (#4) 8. N64 - 287 min. (#3) 9. CoCo 1 & 2 - 225 min. (#8) 10. C64 - 218 min. The Genesis is strong this week, headed by Phantasy Star IV which takes the individual title, well ahead of the arcade classic Out Run. Solar Fox just barely makes it onto the main list, but is the most played pre-NES game just ahead of Space Raiders on the CoCo 1 & 2 and the lesser arcade classic Mysterious Stones. The arcade games may call 911 for help, but as noted, this week is a Genesis week. The Virtual Boy is just outside the top 10, only 3 minutes short from entering the list. Remarkably, with 100+ games played neither entered the 1000, 5000 or 10000 Minute Clubs. Edited March 1, 2022 by carlsson 2

carlsson
Atari 8-bit: Aerial - 7 min. Battlot - 5 min. Neuras - 4 min. Pac-Man (Datasoft w/ intermissions) - 26 min. Since there is no previous distinction between the two main Pac-Man versions, I'm combining them in the tracker but anyway pointing out which one I played here. The other three games are part of Inufuto's games, now available on the A8. They're decent but perhaps underwhelming on the Atari compared to more limited systems like VIC-20, MC-10 etc.

TheGameCollector
I only played one game all week, and I played it a lot. Pokemon Blue Version for Game Boy - 1,465 minutes Progress: I worked my way down to Fuchsia City from the docks south of Lavender Town and played through the rest of the game, getting the Legendary Birds, beating the Pokemon League, catching Mewtwo and catching more random Pokemon. Separate from my game playing time I've started using PKHex to back up Pokemon I find during my playthroughs. I have separated them into folders containing my used Pokemon and unused Pokemon which are at their base experience level as I found them. I also opened up my old save file from 2016 where I had gotten them all and backed them up so I can make comparisons later or even change the original trainer name of my old ones from BLUE to my actual name so they match. I think on my current file I'd like to occasionally continue trying to get all the Pokemon I don't have yet and think about trying to catch a wild version of each evolved Pokemon that I can. I don't usually do it that way in Gen 1. Typically I catch only base forms and level them up from scratch so I can have full control over the moves they know. But since these PKHex backups are a thing where you have as much space as you want, I'd find it interesting to have the wild encounter stat variants. For the most part though, I was really replaying this to go along with the rest of my nostalgic favorites this time. I'll probably get back into focusing more on finishing Donkey Kong Land 2 and more Nintendo 64 games next.
