Switch "Stand By" Lettering?

Hi,

I am just working on a project console and bought a couple of second hand case lids to replace the rather battered one on the original. I have never seen a switch with "STAND BY - ON" combination before.. Where does this come from? ALl the others I've seen (i think - tho it could be selective memory) have a simple "OFF - ON" switch. Thanks again for any info.

This was probably done in response to the fact the Intellivision isn't fully off, as they switched the secondary side of the transformer. As long as it's plugged in, the transformer is still using a small amount of power and generating heat. Maybe they had to legally change the wording in some other country or something because of that?

I would agree with this statement. Most electronic equipment puts the power switch (and fuse sometimes) before the transformers and other electronics. TV's being one exception because of the "quick wake" feature we expect when we push "ON".

Intymike - I was really trying to suss out the origin of the variance. If it was particular to a certain region or model PAL/SECAM NTSC etc, or a certain time frame late or early model. Sadly don't have the lower part of the case so no pics of serial numbers etc - just bought the top half from an eBay auction as it is much cleaner than the beat up one I am restoring.
