Cubwyn2600
I was just wondering if Dark mage is worth getting for someone who likes text adventures and atari 2600

+save2600
Short (even the 8k version) but fun game that I played through when first released. Haven't felt compelled to give it another go ever since though.

When most people speak of liking text adventures, they are referring to Infocom text adventures. Games like Zork, Suspended, Planetfall, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. These text adventure games had a pretty impressive text parser, capable of accepting full English sentences. The text parser in Dark Mage is more like the other non-Infocom text parsers of the day, “VERB NOUN” There has been some work on creating a text adventure on the VCS, with 32 column displays being possible. The interface would need soon work due to the lack of a keyboard. Maybe something more akin to the Maniac Mansion/Simon the Sorcerer/Shadowgate interface of selecting a verb from a list of verbs, and then an item in your inventory or in the room. If you like text adventures, they are still actively being made, and several organizations are dedicated to Interactive Fiction. https://ifdb.org/viewlist?id=k7rrytlz3wihmx2o Edited May 24, 2022 by CapitanClassic
