candiru
Graphically, I think there is a cloud in a different place. There was also a bug fix between releases because the diver would sometimes get stuck. Seems like I read that somewhere.
ianoid
lochjaw is both a label variant and a subtle ROM variant. There are some subtle graphics changes, with minimal effect on gameplay. If you started Shark Attack and Lochjaw up side by side, you wouldn't have much trouble finding differences, more than just clouds, as I understand them. There are a few differences with the mazes if I remember correctly.
Tempest
IIRC: 1. The ship graphic at the top is in a different position 2. The clouds have moved 3. The 'line' under your character extends the full length. 4. Lochjaw had a bad bug where you could get hung up on walls 5. There are diamonds in the maze on start up. Tempest Yep and on top of that, all Lochjaw carts are made with EPROM boards. Just like this one.
MattG/Snyper2099
So all lochjaws have those boards with standard ROMS or is there an EPROM under that RF shield?
Spirantho
So all lochjaws have those boards with standard ROMS or is there an EPROM under that RF shield? There's got to be an EPROM under that shield - the 74LS04 IC there is an inverter, I think, which you need when you want to use EPROMS - you need an inverter when you replace a ROM with an EPROM, and it was just the same in those days. Bruce Tomlin
If they were going to the trouble to get real ROMs made, it would be no more trouble to get an active-high CS line to do away with the 7404 chip. There's a chance (since I can't see the side view) that it may be a plastic case (no erase window) EPROM, but I don't think they made those back then. CPUWIZ
There are regular old 2732's in those.
