What was the first game you bought?

Well, I bought my first Atari used and it came with 6-7 games, but the first one I popped in was Basketball. As far as I can remember, the first game I bought at retail was Defender, buying it from the drugstore where I worked with my first real paycheck.

Pac-Man. Bought it the same day I bought the 2600.

The first game I bought with my own money? Hmm. Good question. My parents spoiled me, so I didn't buy much of anything in the pre-crash years.

 

It may not have been until I had moved onto computers that I bought a game with my own money. I remember going over the hill to Softwaire, Etc. (I believe that was the spelling they used) in The Willows shopping center and buying games for my Atari 1200XL (I had the 400 before that, but I don't think I used my own money to buy any games for it). I was into Infocom games at the time. I know I bought Zork and Deadline. Not sure what I bought first though.

I got my Atari (with Combat) and Breakout for Christmas. The first game I purchased was Basketball.
