Jag Alpine to PC cable

quick question, again!!

 

Sorry guys but a customer just phoned me with questions about the cable conecting the Alpine to PC...

 

1) is a normal bi-directional cable ?

2) if not what does he need or does anyone have a pinout?

IF it's the same 25-pin parallel RS232 cable that the Flashrom cartridge uses (and I don't see why not, though I don't own an Alpine), then yes, its a standard cable.

He needs a cable that should be marked IEEE 1284 on it. One that has all 25 pins connected.

 

I happen to make my own by get two crimp on connectors and a long ribbon cable (25 conductor). I find the ribbon cable has less weight to it so that there isn't too much weight being held by the Alpine board (I have my dev system sitting up on top of a computer desk with the cable going down and behind the desk).

I was the cusomer who phoned nick at 16/32 systems and now have the system working the cable is like an extesion cable with all pins through but a 25 pin male at both ends.
