mister_pal
I was just playing astro war on stella and it said that the creator of it is Artic. Has anyone heard anything of this company

Rom Hunter
Interesting questions, mister_pal. BTW: it's Arctic, not Artic. I don't know much about this company, but according to DP they released the following titles: Astrowar Defender Space Robot There's also a company called Dimax (or Sinmax) which released: Astrowar Space Robot Maybe the two companies (Arctic and Dimax) are connected? I don't know about a Home Vision game called: Meteor Defender. But what I do know is this: Dead-Ray from Home Vision and Meteor Defense from ITT Family Games are the same games as Astrowar. Maybe Marco or Rick can tell us more about Arctic. Edited April 20, 2005 by Rom Hunter
mister_pal
BTW: It Arctic not Artic interesting because I just checked again and it did say Artic but who knows this emulator isn't that accurate( for example it labels mangia simply as rare) Oh and I checked the Meteor rom stella says it's made y ITT games but when I play the game right at the it say home vision

And some companies just steal parts of the game like a few sounds or a few graphics.
mister_pal
The reason I hate this kind of pirating is that there can be so many pirated versions of a certain game you can't tell which one is the correct version for example i have the rom of the cce version of Air Raid. SpiffWilkie
Interesting questions, mister_pal.BTW: it's Arctic, not Artic. 840529[/snapback] It actually is Artic. Assuming it's the same company, they also made coin-op titles. A couple of them are listed on KLOV

Artic and Arctic (they are not only pirating the games, but the company name too) Edited April 21, 2005 by YOK-dfa
Rom Hunter
Oh and I checked the Meteor rom stella says it's made y ITT games but when I play the game right at the it say home vision That's no strange thing. There even exist carts, where the ITT label has been pasted over an original Home Vision label.
Rom Hunter
Just figured out something else there is a game called Astrowar by Goliath. Yep, Goliath also released an Astrowar and Hot Shot released Missile War (AKA Astrowar) and then there is Kampf im Asteroiden-Gürtel (AKA Astrowar) from Quelle. To name but a few... If it's the same company that released the coin-ups Devil Fish and Mars, then it is Artic Electronics indeed. Maybe DP has misspelled the company name? Retro Gamer
Speaking of pyrited games, one game that has TONS of copies is, River Raid. I have the stellaX emulator and it has countless amounts of copied versions of River Raid. Sometimes it just makes me mad.
