Dr Manhattan
A good friend and I are working on something, hopefully for the spring - it WONT be Atari branded, but it will be a portable and will be 2600/7800... Curt All of my money. Just take it now.
radiohead
I recently took back my son's old 12 inch CRT and hooked up my FB2 (I had been playing Stella and Wii2600 Homebrew.) I had contemplated on spending the $$ to cart mod the FB2 and grab the Harmony Cart. If Curt's proposed FB3 portable has AV out, controller plugs, SD support, AND a retail cost comparable to what I was going to spend on the FB3 mod ($60 for Harmony/$20 for spare parts = $80), then sign me up. Otherwise, Atari's Greatest hits Vol I & II for the DS and Activision's Anthology for GBA is enough portable for me.
lapetino
Sounds amazing! You Mean this? Shown to Atari back in 2006-2007??? T2KFREEKER
A good friend and I are working on something, hopefully for the spring - it WONT be Atari branded, but it will be a portable and will be 2600/7800... Since it would have a FAT16 compatible SD Card slot and no cartridge slot, no the Harmony would not work with it. My wallet is weeping at this news. Mine too, but it will be cool to FINALLY have something like this. Curt, it needs to have some kind of attachment too that will work as a Paddle so we can get some Breakout and Warlords going, please! Even if it's only a small knob that spins, that would so rock! StephenJ
Add me to the "Definitely Interested" list! Keep us informed Curt. StephenJ
svenski
A question: Does anyone know if there is any difference between the FB3 that has already appeared with the red artwork boxes and the one that is "coming soon" in the re-designed packaging? Is there any?
garyd97
Curt, Are you able to give us any more details at this time, such as if we will be able to play it on tv as well with joysticks?
StephenJ
"...Are you able to give us any more details at this time...". I'll 2nd that.
gorfcadet
I'll 3rd it. I have no idea what we are talking about, but it sounds like a portable Atari clone? Any Atari clone that would save wear on my original would be frawsome (freakin awesome).
famicommander
Damn, between this and the XM/7800 integrated console Curt is going to take every dime that I have. I am so glad that you didn't give up on this one, Curt. I've been hoping for years to see this project come to life.
awace
WHY NOT JUST BUILD A CARTRIDGE THAT TAKES MEMORY STICKS AND EMULATES AN ATARI 2600 cart and has built in menu to select fat .bin files!!! like compact flash to 2600 cart that would be easyer to make than a FB3.. It could come with a HOMEBREW GAME!!... Edited October 22, 2011 by awace

Atari Dogs
At Rite Aid drug store today. They had the Flashback 3.
Master Phruby
So the Flashback 3 is just a repackaged Flashback 2. Lame.
GroovyBee
So the Flashback 3 is just a repackaged Flashback 2. Lame. Nope! akator
They have the FB3 at the local Dollar General... but I'm having a difficult time buying it. We have multiple 2600 consoles and enough emulation that I simply can't justify another $40 on it, especially since there is almost no chance I'm going to use the FB3 when I have so many other ways to get my 2600 satisfaction... Tony J Case
Crap, now I got an excuse to head out on Black Friday - Toys R Us is selling FB3 for 25 bucks, according to their ad: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/ToysRUs/26 (page 26 if you have to find it by hand)
garyd97
I will be picking one of these up at Toys R Us. $25 is a steal. It also seems to have the best game selection out of the 3 units. The flashback 3 seems destined to rack up the sales.
thevnaguy
would not even buy it for .99 cents. Not made by Legacy Engineering so no sale.
Chris Leach
http://bfads.net/Ad/...R-Us-2011/Page7 again recap..it is in the blackfriday add.....note the times and be first in the store to pick one up cause they open at 9 pm not midnight..... so doesnt that rename Black Friday and give Thursday the Black title leaving Friday to be the step child day of the sale cause all the good deals are gone...? garyd97
For those who don't want to wait or don't want to get out for Black Friday, can order from dollargeneral.com for $34 and free shipping with code FAN15OFF. That is what I ended up doing.
Zwackery
Don't forget that it comes with a free poster!
Tony J Case
Well, the difference between 25 bucks and 34 bucks isn't THAT huge (especially when you figure in a couple bucks tax on the 25) - so looks like I'm saving a trip to Toy R Us! Thanks Gary!
HP Atari King of Michigan
WELL, I just bought mine today, and played it. According to Wikipedia, it's not the 2600-on-a-chip technology that Legacy did with the FB2 and FB2+; instead AtGames opted to use a ARM-based processor which makes the games function slightly different (though not to the extreme of the Jaks Pacific or the first Flashback with the NES-on-a-chip). Plus if you planned on hacking it and adding a cart port, you can FORGET IT! It won't work. However, like the FB2, you can use the joysticks on an original 2600. My final analysis: it's ok, but I lean towards my FB2. While the FB3 has more games, the emulation is off IMHO. The FB2 is an actual Atari 2600, but the FB3 is an emulator inside a 2600-looking package. Plus the sounds on the games sounds higher than in their original versions.
nathanallan
Thinking about how the last versions of the FB's did, these will be a sell out. So far as far as I remember, they all were. Legacy or not, true to original or not. I do want one, but only on sale since Legacy didn't make it.
