Mindfield
Unless these are on eBay or some other auction site, you may want to have this moved to Marketplace. Pictures for stuff like this will also help a lot, since a "found" stash like this is almost certainly going to be considered phony without some substantial proof to back it up. jay2068
Sell them as regular carts and don't use the word protoype. Thou you won't get as high as a price as you want. Ebay loves to remove auctions for prototypes. You can also auction/sell them off here as this is where you will find most collectors willing to purchase these items. sku_u
Not without risking having your account suspended indefinitely. Ebay really frowns on the sale of prototypes which is very annoying given how many questionable items they have no problem with. Is there a legit way to sell these on ebay? Tempest
I like the Galaxian cart where 'Signed Atari' is crossed out and 'Pirated' written in. Tempest
Mindfield
What's up with that one? Must have been done by one of the last owners of the proto. Is it also common that all of the lab loaners have tabs that are all written in the same hand by the same pen? (Not that I'm casting suspicion -- it just struck me as curious)

I suppose it was whoever was in charge of loaning out the protos. Tempest
ianoid
I would imagine that the engineers and sales people had a common person trained to burn eproms, or at least write or type the labels to save them time. We should find out from someone who worked at Atari labs. Has someone come up with a concrete story why there are so many 5200 loaners out there, and why some don't have lab label, just small white labels? Is it because they just made copies to play at home? Did they send out alot of promotional copies to loyal vendors?

sku_u
Sound like fair prices. Please do not start a new thread every time you want to change 1 detail about what you're selling. Just post in this thread which I have merged with your two other threads about these items. Thanks.

canyonfisher
I dealt with this guy and it went very smoothly. I highly recommend him! Thanks Iannoid. Same goes for you. Where is the recommend list of sellers/buyers on this site? Has anyone ever done an auction like thread here? A seller offering a proto for bid by post? The buyers could post here (or by PM if they prefer, but that might reduce the legitimacy of the bidding) and the seller could summarize the bids with a post once every evening for a week? ianoid
Folks actually commonly do it by PM. Most people are kind of paranoid or private about 'bids' and just move along with a vague sense of trust. I kind of hate the private bidding thing, but then I've done it many times on the boards. What I don't like is when I make the highest 'bid' and the seller goes public with it (or pms it to others), almost ensuring that I don't get the item, despite having been the initially most aggressive. I pretty much got what I wanted, so I'm making general comments about 'auctions' on the boards.
