vdub_bobby
I thought this was going to be a thread for the ugliest label...oh well, bad games are fun to talk about too.
ATARIPITBULL
I guess I would say Froggo games.
BassGuitari
Who gets your vote for producing the sheer amount of bad games released for the vcs/2600? I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking A) who we think is solely responsible for the enormous amount of poor-quality Atari 2600 games, B), which company made more bad games than any other, or C) which company had the worst good-to-bad ratio of games, regardless of the actual number of their games? Well, I have an answer for each. A) It's impossible to pin it entirely on one person or company. But, you can blame it on a collective of people/companies, such as Froggo, Mythicon, Data Age, and the people who bought their cartridges. Atari might assume some of the responsibility because they continued to focus on the 2600 when they should have been supporting the 5200. B) Another tough call. I'd have to say Atari, I think, because it stands to reason that since they probably made more games for the 2600 than anyone else, they would have more bad games than anyone else. But, even the worst Atari titles were still far better than some of the other crap that came out in the early '80s. C) Mythicon, Froggo, and Apollo (Skeet Shoot makes this happen by default, sorry Apollo fans! )

Shawn
Mythicon, all 3 of the games they made are pretty much just hacks of eachother, although I supose one of them has to be the original.
Crazy Climber
I guess I would say Froggo games. Did you forget about PANDA?
PressureCooker2600
For worst label...just refer to everyones favorite man in blue tights...the guy on the cover of Megaman 1 for NES. I love and despise that label. It's just so ridiculous you have to love it. Atari wise...I like at least one game from every label, even Data Age ( I love Journey Escape and Bermuda Triangle...unlike many people). I would say Playaround has the worst games because who wants to play porn when they play video games...especially with atari 2600 graphics. The ONLY reason I would ever buy a Playaround game would just be for the collector value.....I know everyone just loves a good game of Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em
Shawn
I know everyone just loves a good game of Beat 'Em and Eat 'Em Actually I find Beat'em & Eat'em to be the best of the lot of the "porno" 2600 titles. I play it on a half regular basis. Try getting above 300 points, It's pretty hard to do. Forget the graphics, just play it for the game. I suppose you could just as easy play Gremlins as it's damn near the same game with just a few more bells and whistles (which is why I own both). shadow460
Worst in my book...hmm, for worst game, probably Quaker Oats with Squeeze Box, or was Panda's Dice Puzzle worse? For worst bad to good ratio, well, nothing of Panda's has ever impressed me at all. Ugliest label--Xonox. Easy. Great games, though. Actually no, ugliest label goes to Fox games since they didn't have names on the ends. More good games there, though. I actually have a lot of love for Froggo. Maybe the fact I've never played any of their 2600 titles helps, but I've got their 7800 games and they are decent.
supercat
I actually have a lot of love for Froggo. Maybe the fact I've never played any of their 2600 titles helps, but I've got their 7800 games and they are decent. Did Froggo actually program any games for the 2600, or did they just reproduce games programmed by others? And how did Froggo pick the games to sell? Just about every U.S. company I know of made at least one game that has something of value to the 2600 experience. Starfox (Mythicon) is hardly great, but at least the ship doesn't vanish when it fires (unlike in Defender). Cathouse Blues has interesting gameplay, though having the mugger end the game instead of just costing a life seems a bit unfair. Can't think of any redeeming quality whatsoever for either of Ultravision's titles--not sure why Froggo decided one of them deserved to be marketed in the U.S.? Opo Terser
I understand you guys are talking about bad companies, but in terms of a bad cartridge label design, "Off the Wall" is probably the worst Atari put out. It looks like it was done with colored pencils, not to mention the art itself is just terrible. From that damn flaming "M", to the distressed Japanese guy with the bent wrist, it's just hideous. And a little bit more on topic, Froggo games aren't that bad, they "are" playable. Mr. Postman has to be the crappiest game I can think of. Also Joust isn't too much fun. the 5th ghost
I think Scrapyard Dog for the 7800 had the worst artwork ever. Ughhh http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=709 I mean, what the hell? Is the dog growing out of his shoulder? Just plain awful to look at. That's bad, but nowhere near as painful as the art for the Genesis Valis III. Is that supposed to be the girl from the game, or a cross-dressing guy with a mohawk? Strider for the Genesis also has laughable art. I........can't.......believe.....it.....this....guy...that is....supposed...to...be...Strider Hiryu.....looks.....like......Captain...KIRK!
