Imagine yourself the pilot, attacking the enemy fortress, climbing, diving, swooping, and strafing to score points and extra fuel. The enemy fights back with a barrage of missiles and gunfire. Then you face a fleet of enemy fighters in a gripping dogfight of altitude strategy and flying skill. Survive this battle and the enemy's fortress, defended with laser barriers, and you will have earned the ultimate challenge: a blazing confrontation with the powerful robot, armed with a lethal homing missile.
Now play the 32K version of Zaxxon from the Atari home computer line on your 5200! This 32K cart has the following improvements over the original 5200 16K cartridge release, providing improved gameplay and increased challenge!
- Functional missile silos fire at you from below!
- Pilot your fighter in both horizontal and vertical directions in the space battle. Plane size scales with altitude. Original 16K cart had only horizontal movement.
- Improved Zaxxon robot graphics and animation. Missile will track player when fired. Player must make six direct hits on the missile to destroy the robot. 16K version only requires hit to any place on robot's body.
- Splash screen graphic at startup.
Zaxxon 32K includes the game cartridge only.

Comparing this enhancement to the original Atari 5200 game: I'd rate 5200 original Zaxxon 2/5. It looked good and scrolled var more smoothly than the CV version; but it also had cheap collision, it cut out several gameplay features that even the CV version had, and it scrolled too fast!
This 32k version is an improved port of the superior Atari 8bit computer version, with missiles and vertical control in the space sections restored, and the collision is improved here and there. It still scrolls too fast, but you can adjust.
So if you love the "differentness" of the home ports of famous 80's coin-ops and need a home version of Zaxxon, this is the one to get!
