No that will happen if there is no cart. You shouldn't be turning it on without a cart in it anyway. So if the contacts are dirty and no cart is inserted this is common? Ive never got anything similar with my other working 2600s when Ive started them without a cart before. The first thing I did when I noticed that it didn't wanna work as it was supposed to was that I cleaned the contacts and the pcb. Ill clean the the contacts some more just to be sure though.

But this happens even if there isn't a cart in the atari. Shouldn't the TV screen just become black if you started it without a cart in it and not show random vertical lines?

Hi! I recently bought a Atari Light Sixer but it seems that theres something wrong with it. Every time I start it I get these vertical lines and a constant sound. It does not react if there is a game in it or not. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? Thanks for your time // nordloef

Hi! I was thinking of doing the stereo mod on my PAL 2600 jr but found this on http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk. PAL: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...t&id=105774 NTSC: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...t&id=105775 It looks like the PAL version only got one audio pin? Which would mean that I cant do the stereo mod on my PAL atari? I'm also guessing that it wouldn't be possible to put a NTSC TIA in a PAL atari right? Is getting a NTSC atari the only way? Also I'm considering adding a composite output on my jr but so far I'm a little confused by all the different methods. Some add an additional pcb like the ones from 8bit domain http://www.8bitdomain.com/about2600jr.php and some you just add some wires. Whats the difference between these methods? The one Ive been considering doing is this one: http://www.atariage.com/2600/faq/index.html#composite Since it´s the easiest of the ones Ive found so far. Has anyone done it? Does it work?
