  1. It's a shame because I'd love to see high quality prints offered for sale, but getting the rights to do that would be very difficult and I doubt the artists would be entitled to any of the money. One thing's for sure: they just don't do box art like that any more.
  2. Wasteland, the spiritual precursor to Fallout, is like a post-apocalyptic Bard's Tale. It had a sequel called Fountain of Dreams which is said to be a bit too buggy to be fun.
  3. An important category would be roguelikes, going back to 1974 for a game called pedit5 soon followed by dnd. These games eventually led to Rogue, Temple of Apshai, heck even the Intellivision's Tower of Doom was influenced by these games. And roguelikes are still played today.
  4. Silvern Castle!! That's it!!!! Thanks a million.
  5. I'm trying to track down an RPG. It might have been for the Apple 2, but perhaps it was for something a little more obscure like the TI99. Heck, it might have been a DOS game. The odd thing about it was it was released well after the heyday of classic RPGs. I think it was done by a single guy as a kind of labor of love. When he finally completed it he released it as freeware. He might even have had a web site dedicated to it, that is his own .com just for the game. It might have been black & white with very primitive graphics. And I think it was in the style of Bard's Tale, Wizardry, Might & Magic, that sort of thing.
  6. Froggo's Karate I could never figure out. I mean, okay, it's karate. There's 2 guys. You play one of them. Push the red button and... am I kicking? Punching? What exactly is that mess of blocky lines doing? The controls are a wonky mess and the game seems to kind of play itself. I doubt any human on earth has played that game for more than 60 seconds.
  7. Enduro in the really late stages. At night. On ice.
  8. It also gave us the first (that I'm aware of) Easter Egg, at least the first one in an Atari 2600 game. And if it wasn't for that "flickering mess" I never would have discovered the invisible dot which led me to the Easter Egg!
  9. I've always considered this game to be a roguelike and it probably deserves to be credited as the first roguelike on a console. It has most of the characteristics of a roguelike: randomly generated dungeons and loot, permanent death, the goal is to reach the bottom (or is it the top?) of the dungeon. Even some of the starting classes are ripped straight from roguelikes, including the really weak ones (like the Waif) for those looking for a serious challenge. Diablo, too, was inspired by roguelikes, and Blizzard have admitted as much in interviews. I think it's important to preserve video game history and give credit where it's due. This game really deserves a place in video game history.
  10. Tigervision games, like Jawbreaker, Threshold and the Miner 2049er games are all very fun. Rare but not impossible to find.
  11. Two words: Slik-Stik! I prefer the smaller size.
