  1. I am looking for either a dedicated 4 directional joystick that will work on an Atari 2600 / 800XL type system, or else one of those little plastic collars that Newport Machine Designs manufactured in the early 1980's that you could snap on to your joystick to force it to go in only one of four directions. If you have one to sell/trade, or else know where I can get one, please contact me at DoctorPacMan@cs.com. Thanks in advance.
  2. I have recently bought a "new" Atari 800XL system and PacMan cartridge after years of frustration with the PC and Playstation PacMan wanna-bes. The joystick is what makes or breaks the PacMan experience, as you probably know already. I have bought five different joysticks via. ebay looking for the perfect PacMan joystick. I thought I finally found one when I ordered a Tri-Fire Prostick III joystick with a plastic collar (made by Newport Controls) that allows the joystick to move only in four directions. However, I got the joystick today, plugged it up to my 800XL, and the thing is a dud. The only thing that works is the firing button, which will start a new PacMan game when you press it. Does anybody on this board know where I can get either a joystick that moves in only four directions or one of those plastic collars that Newport made back in the early 1980's for the Atari 5200 joystick that snaps on to produce the same result? Also, this might sound like a simpleton question but I'm new to Atari, does a joystick for the Atari 5200 also work for an Atari 800XL?
