Prototype Release of the Year

Bugs Bunny
by: Atari2600.com

Bugs BunnyNothing is as sweet as an original programmer picking up the mantle and completing a game that was left unfinished long ago. This is what gamers got last spring when Bob Polaro (of Defender fame, among others) released the finished version of his original Bugs Bunny prototype. The game is excellent, great graphics, fun to play, an exceptional two-player mode, and was released in cartridge format for all to enjoy. The original unfinished prototype was near completion and promised great things. It only required some finishing touches to make it complete. The release of the finished game was conducted through Atari2600.com at last year's Philly Classic3, with a personal appearance and signing from Bob Polaro himself. They even had free carrots for snacking in between games! The buzz around the release of this game was large, anticipation was high, and the line for the sale of the game stretched across the convention hall of the Philly Classic. If only all prototypes got this kind of attention!
