Globetrotter World Tour
Sponsored by Weston Hilton and Packrat Video Games
An Atari cart travel all around the world? It could happen. As a matter of fact, it's trying to even as I write this! The Globetrotter project is an ambitious idea that proposes to send a custom-made Atari cart to anywhere in the world Atari fans dwell.
Globetrotter is a "homebrew" effort of a kind. While not a real game, Globetrotter does feature a welcome screen featuring "Trotter" himself, and a pretty neat World Map. The idea behind the whole idea is to give Atari fans worldwide a common experience, hosting the cart, and to see just how far Trotter can go. Trotter hosts are free to take the cart to any points of interest where they live and send photos of the visit. Hosts also sign a travelogue and affix stamps or stickers from their locale on Trotter's "suitcase."
After a year's travel, Trotter is scheduled to return home to Utah where he will be auctioned off along with all of his belongings, as a part of Atari History. The proceeds from Trotter's auction will go to charity. (Not a very nice send off for someone who did so much leg work, but maybe he'll get a good home.)
Globetrotter is a revolutionary idea and a great way to spread the love that is Atari. For more information, please visit the Globetrotter World Tour page. |
