General Computing (who went on to create the arcade game Food Fight for Atari) came up with a hack of Pac-Man shortly after it began to swamp arcades. Midway was none too pleased, but decided to market the game as Pac-Man's successor Ms. Pac-Man anyway (as part of the settlement).
