Atari 5200 boxesAtari 5200 boxes

When Atari introduced the 5200, they decided to change the style of boxes they had been using on the 2600. While the boxes are the exact same size (which would also carry over to the 7800), they had a uniform silver appearance. The system and titles were displayed in blue for the 5200 and red for the 2600 (and later a darker red for the 7800). All of Atari's titles, except for Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus (the two games developed by LucasFilm), came in this same style of box. Fortunately, third party vendors like Activision, CBS and Parker Brothers went their own route. Activision had the most interesting boxes, several of which had flaps that opened on the front, not unlike many PC games in the present.

If you have any boxes that we're missing and would like to loan them to us or scan them, please contact us!
