Atari has just announced the Atari 7800+ console, a brand new way to enjoy Atari 2600 and 7800 games on a modern television. The 7800+ share's the same, sleek design as the original 7800, featuring the European version of the silver stripe on the front of the console. It features an HDMI port on the back, a USB-C connector for power, and two standard DB9 controller ports on the front. Included is the new CX-78+ Wireless Controller, as well as a copy of Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest, the original sequel to Crystal Castles, developed by AtariAge member Robert DeCrescenzo (PacManPlus). 7800+ Features:
In addition to the 7800+ and CX-78+ Wireless Controller, Atari has also announced a CX-40+ Wireless Joystick. Both wireless controllers will work on classic consoles and computers that support standard Atari DB9 joystick controllers, as well as with modern computers using the included USB-A wireless dongle. And, one thing that greatly excites us, is that Bounty Bob Strikes Back is making its appearance on the 7800 for the first time, faithfully ported to the Atari 7800 by Robert DeCrescenzo! This classic platform game, the sequel to the wildly popular Miner 2049er, was originally released for the Atari 5200 and Atari 8-bit computers, and now you can enjoy it on the 7800! AtariAge will again be attending the annual Portland Retro Gaming Expo, taking place this year October 13-15 at the Oregon Convention Center! We'll have an even larger booth this year, the largest we've ever had at the show. And we'll have many new games available to purchase at the show, as well as demos for upcoming games! The AtariAge booth will be located right near the main entrance to the vendor hall, so you can't miss it as you enter the show! Many homebrew developers will be in attendance again at this year's show, so this is a great opportunity to meet and talk to developers about their games! And of course this is a HUGE event, and even larger this year with the addition of 60,000 square feet of space! There's so much to do at the show, tons of vendors, a huge free-play arcade, cosplay, auction, large console play area, tournaments, many speakers and panels throughout the show, and much more! We're proud to announce the immediate availability of three new games for the Atari Jaguar - Gods, The Chaos Engine, and Stormbringer! You can now enjoy these three classic computer games on the Jaguar with new soundtracks and no slow floppy loading! Gods and The Chaos Engine were developed by The Bitmap Brothers and were popular and well-reviewed back when they were released. The Portland Retro Gaming Expo is one of the largest classic gaming events in the country, bursting at the seams with video games and game-related activities all weekend long! The PRGE Retrocade opens to the public at noon on Friday, featuring 30,000 square feet of full-size arcade games and pinball machines, and the main exhibition hall (along with the arcade) will be open Saturday and Sunday.
